Guilty: I Hate Voicemail
I use a lot of productivity tools on my computer to stay on top of my daily to-do lists. I manage to do well in most areas except when it comes to my voice mail. I hate checking voice mail but as it turns out I have specific hours for answering my phone throughout the day so no doubt I do manage to get a few voice messages.
I try let people know that I do not immediately check my messages. Sometimes it happens up to five to seven days after the messages have been left. When I do get around to checking it is only to get rid of the constant reminders that my phone sends out to check the messages.
Is there anyone out there with me on this? I cannot really explain the reason behind the aversion it is just something that just is. Some would say that is just suicide for business but somehow the people who need to reach me find a way to other than voice mail. Those that work with me know that I respond faster to an email, a text or a quick message on Facebook or Skype. Send me a tweet I will respond faster than when a voice mail is left.
I have so far not suffered any adverse losses for my delinquency but I am taking an oath to do better and perhaps to find a service that would transcribe my voice mail so that I can get to them much sooner. I found a few of them on the web but the reviews are not all that great. I will continue my search but if you have suggestions let me know.
Until I manage to right this wrong just send me an email, a tweet, Skype me or try calling me again because when the time is right I do answer my phone.
Here’s my question, do you share my aversion to voice mail?
