Employment: Who Needs It?
Think about it. Do you really need that job that you are holding on to with a vice-like grip? I am talking about that job that you think offers some security. That job that you tear yourself out of bed to go to every day. That job that you whine and moan about every chance you get. That job where you do the same thing and meet the same people day in and day out.
For a few people a job offers a place to be creative and to really do something meaningful that changes the lives of many people. For the majority however a job is nowhere near as fulfilling as that. Their jobs can be described as the equivalent of “selling one’s soul to the devil” in order to receive a regular paycheck every month.
Spending four years and more to acquire higher education only to get a job where you are dissatisfied and stressed out is so 20thcentury. Yes, you can’t argue with that a regular paycheck is enticing but chances are you are doing the work of 2-5 people just to earn it. I am sure that they didn’t disclose that in your welcome package! I come across so many talented people who are stuck doing jobs that they hate and I wonder to myself why do they do it? Then again, I see a changing trend too. I am seeing so many people chucking in the “security” of their regular paychecks to blaze their own trails, to build their own dreams to start their own businesses.
It’s almost 6 years now since I have last worked full time and over 8 years since I caught the entrepreneurial bug. I started my virtual assistant practice part time, in addition to becoming a powerseller on eBay while I worked a full time job. Those were the days.
To be fair let me briefly evaluate both sides of the coin. A job promises a paycheck on schedule. On the other hand that raise that you were promised might not be forthcoming, the position may not be as secure as you think, you have to explain your every move, do the work of 2-5 people and I can almost bet that you are not given the appreciation that you deserve.
Today the internet has made so much possible. There are millions of people around the world who are making their livings online. From selling digital and physical products, offering services, providing online courses, coaching, flipping websites and so much more it’s all there. This has been going on for many years now and even today there are so much opportunities and avenues for entrance that any savvy visionary could step right in and make a decent living. For sure this is not for everyone but I am sure that if you are disciplined and have a talent that you are using to make your boss rich you can put it to good use to freelance or start your own business.
As education increases, degrees are now a dime a dozen, it is increasingly hard for graduates to find great paying jobs. Still many of them sit, hoping and praying that the job will come along. I believe that the “smarter” ones realize that there are indeed a lot of possibilities in being their own bosses and take up the challenge to do so. As I said earlier not everyone has been blessed with the entrepreneurial spirit but it is easy to test the waters and see if you can make a go of it.
Freelancing online is a great way to start. It requires little or no investment, except time for research and learning the ropes, and in little as 24 hours you can have money in your pockets. Not bad for a few hours’ work.
If you are tired of working the same ole’ job or need to explore the possibilities of freelancing, becoming a virtual assistant or just earning some extra money online, submit your email below and I’ll send you weekly tips on how to get started and make a successful living (full time or part time) online.

I really began working online full time in 2005 but did it part-time for several years before that (granted that I worked more hours part time than most people do in their full time job).
I have had my ups and downs but I have discovered tried and true ways to make money on the internet while working at home. Believe me that while more and more people flock to this lifestyle it is not for the fainthearted. There are a lot of programs available on the web proclaiming that making money while working at home is as easy as can be but this is a false claim that too many people find out the hard way. Of course it is possible and the process once you learn it is quite simple but it takes work, dedication and a willingness to learn.
I will be sharing more about this is future posts. In the mean time I will share my top 5 ways to make money online just to get you thinking and very soon I will elaborate so that you can get started.
1. Develop a Product and Recruit Affiliates to Sell It
This is my all time favorite way to make money online. Before you get scared and start running the other way I should let you know that this is not as complicated as it sounds. Did you know that millions of sales are made online every year for digital or information products? Yes, its true people pay every day for information and if you can do the research or pay someone else to do it for you the results could be an amazing info product that thousands of people will be willing to purchase.
2. Promote Other People’s Products As An Affiliate
If you open your eyes and take a close look at some product reviews that you may have looked for online you will see that some of those reviews are written by affiliates. These affiliates try the product, write a great review, post their link to the manufacturer of the product and once you make a purchase they get a commission. Do this for a few high priced products or a few hundred low ticket items and you could earn yourself a fortune.
3. Write a Blog
Yes, if you can write even if its only halfway decent writing you can make money online. Write about the things that people want to know about and you can earn an income. How is this income earned? Well in several ways, you can publish ads on your blog, sell ad space when your blog becomes popular or even turn around and sell your blog when it does. My personal favorite is to use Google Adsense to publish ads on my sites. When the traffic (or visitors) increase my earnings increase.
4. Flip Sites or Domains
Building on the point in number 3 is flipping sites or domains for money. If you can build valuable sites fast enough and get them to rank or place well in the search engines and increase traffic you will be able to call top dollar when you sell those sites. Of course there is much involved here which is why some people choose instead to flip domains. Either way you can earn a small fortune by flipping sites or domains. I myself have flipped a few sites when I needed emergency cash. I still do it to this day.
5. Freelance
If you are just getting started online freelancing is a great way to earn some seed money to kick off your projects. Believe it or not all the methods outlined above takes times and when you need money in a hurry freelancing is the way to go. If you can write, design sites, edit photos, create videos or some other skill you can begin offering your services in exchange for money. You will need to build a clientele but this can be done quickly. Word spreads when you’re good at what you do.
Stay tuned as I will show you in future posts how to use my top 5 methods to make money online.
